Wrong operation and handling method of the pipette

As a manually adjustable precision pipette in liquid operation, some wrong operations will bring errors to the operation itself, and some will cause damage to the machine, which is summarized as follows:

 

Error: hit the suction head, and the above is tight

Correct: Insert the suction head, turn left and right to tighten the suction head

Analysis: The impact will cause the loosening of the gear combination inside the pipetter, and the long-term operation will affect the accuracy of the pipetter. 

 

Error: the suction head does not match with the pipette, affecting the air tightness 

Correct: Choose a quality assurance suction head matched with the pipette

Analysis: The mismatch of the suction head is mainly manifested as the influence on air tightness. It will directly affect the accuracy of the pipette, and usually, the pipette operation will be less than the set quantification.  

 

Error: When the pipette tilts to aspirate  

Correct: Vertical suction fluid

Analysis: The inclined state will cause a change in the air pressure surface. This will affect the accuracy of pipetting fluid.

 

Error: When the suction head contains an untapped liquid, the pipette is placed flat on the tabletop

Correct: Hang the pipette vertically on the pipette support  

Analysis: the suction head contains no liquid, the liquid after the pipette may flow into the pipette body, which will affect the internal components of the pipette, serious damage, poor pollution, and other situations.

 

Error: remove a small volume of liquid with a large range pipette 

Correct: the fluid accumulation must be within the range provided by the pipette to meet the requirements of inaccuracy and inaccuracy 

Analysis: because of the existence of an air pad, is the main cause of pipette accuracy. The choice of the pipette should be the selection principle of the maximum range and the target liquid transfer amount.  

 

Error: absorb liquids with strong volatility

Correct: it is not recommended to use an ordinary pipette to strengthen the volatile liquid transfer 

Analysis: If the highly volatile liquid must be removed, the pipette should be disassembled immediately after the transfer, allowing the steam to evaporate. Meanwhile, it is recommended to use an external piston pipette.

  

Error: the suction speed and discharge speed are too fast 

Correct: Slow suction and slow release

Analysis: fast suction for 1 mL and above the pipette, it is easy to cause liquid flushing. The excessive discharge will increase the residual amount of fluid.
