Magnetic Rod Cover Factory is a manufacturer of magnetic rod sets, which are used in deep well plates for nucleic acid extraction on nucleic acid extraction machines. These 8-linked magnetic rod sets and 96-well magnetic rod sets are made of high purity polypropylene (PP) injection molding, strong chemical resistance, good heat resistance, low adsorption, as nucleic acid extraction consumables.
Using a magnetic rod set on the nucleic acid extractor machine extends the service life of the magnetic rod, protects it from contamination and prolongs the sonication time during nucleic acid extraction experiment. It can also be used with a deep well plate to mix, lyse, combine, wash and elute the sample during the magnetic bead method, and release the magnetic beads and magnetic beads-target substance complexes through the coordinated movement of the rod and the magnetic rod sleeve.
In the separation device according to the invention, an elongated protective cover 1 with a boring 2 in it is provided on the inside, wherein the lower ends of the cover and boring are slightly tapered. A flange 3 is provided at the upper end of the body which facilitates gripping when the protective cover is held in place. The length of the protective cover and of the boring are preferably chosen so that an intensity and a gradient of the permanent magnetic field are achieved.
The ferromagnetic arm 6 is attached to the magnet 5 on the lower end of the boring 2. A gripping knob 7 is provided at the upper end of the ferromagnetic arm 6. When the ferromagnetic arm is kept in the lower end of the boring, magnetic particles are accumulated directly on the tip of the protective cover and can be released when the ferromagnetic arm is allowed to move into an upper position.
When the ferromagnetic arm is moved in the upper end of the boring, it dissolves the gradient of the permanent magnetic field and thus causes the particles to be collected on the tip of the protective cover. When the ferromagnetic arm is removed from the lower end of the boring, the particles are released from the tip into a volume that is many times smaller than the original composition.
A separation means for the separation of magnetic particles is disclosed in publication WO-87/05536. The device comprises a movable rod comprising one rod magnet at the end thereof, wherein the proportion of the length of the rod magnet to its diameter is about 2:1 or about 3:1, preferably about 12:1. Both the intensity and the gradient of the magnetic field are strongest at the end of the movable rod.
The particles can be separated from the movable rod in a liquid, whereby the accumulating particles are pushed into the cover and the particles are collected on the tip of the protective cover. The particles are accumulated in a mass 10 which can be released from the cover into a relatively small amount of liquid, as shown in FIGS. Moreover, the separation means is well-adapted to be used in the wells of microtitration plates with diameters of about 7 mm.
