Although the pipette is small, as one of the conventional laboratory instruments, it still plays a large role in the accuracy and accuracy of our experimental results. Therefore, in order to improve our experimental effect, this paper will talk about the disinfection and sterilization treatment of the pipette. For pipettes, the two concepts of disinfection and sterilization are often confused. In fact, there are some differences between the two: disinfection only requires that the live bacteria on the pipette to control within a certain range, to reach the harmless level, and sterilization is more stringent, requiring the elimination of all live bacteria. Therefore, the treatment requirements of sterilization are higher than those of disinfection.

There are two ways to disinfect the pipettes:

1: chemical disinfection

Simply put, it is to wipe the outer surface of the pipette with alcohol and then dry it. This should be possible for all pipette brands; if any pipette is not chemically sterilized, the case is poor.

2. Disinfection by ultraviolet light

It is to illuminate the surface of the pipette to achieve the purpose of disinfection by destroying the DNA structure of cells. The duration of UV disinfection depends on the intensity of the radiation and the resistance of the bacteria to UV light. Most brands of pipettes can be sterilized with UV light, but you still need to confirm with your suppliers that not all pipettes can be UV sterilized.
