Centrifuge Tube

Definition: Tubular sample container, with sealing cover or gland.

Discipline: Mechanical Engineering (first-class discipline); Laboratory instruments and devices (secondary discipline); Laboratory Centrifuge - Laboratory Centrifuge Parts and Accessories (Level III Discipline)

According to the size :

(1)Massive centrifuge tubes (500 mL, 250 mL)

(2)Normal centrifugal tube (50 mL, 15 mL)

(3)Microcentrifuge tube (2mL, 1.5mL, 0.65mL, 0.2mL)

According to the bottom shape :

(1)conical centrifugal tube, tapered at the bottom, is the most used centrifugal tube type (2)Flat-bottom centrifuge tube

(3)round bottom centrifuge tube

Follow the lid closure mode

(1)A press-cover centrifuge tube, sealed by the press, is common in microcentrifuge tubes

(2)The screw cover centrifuge tube can be divided into a flat cover (the top of the cover is flat) and a plug cover (with a plug shape on the top of the cover)

According to the material :

(1)Plastic centrifugal tube

(2)glass centrifugal tube

(3)steel centrifugal tube

(1) Plastic centrifugal tube :

The advantage of a plastic centrifuge tube is transparent or translucent, its hardness is small, can be punctured to remove the sample. Disadvantages are easy to deform, organic solvent corrosion is poor, short service life. A plastic centrifuge tube has a tube cover, its function is to prevent sample leakage, especially for radioactive or strong corrosive samples to prevent sample leakage is a very important point; tube cover also is to prevent the sample volatilization and supports the centrifuge tube, to prevent centrifugal tube deformation. When choosing this point, we should also pay attention to check whether the pipe cover is tight, in the test and can be covered with a strict cover, in order to reach the inverted liquid leakage; We all know that in plastic centrifuge tubes, commonly used materials are polyethylene (PE), polycarbonate (PC), polypropylene (PP), etc., among which polypropylene PP tube performance will be relatively good, so, we should consider polypropylene plastic centrifuge tube as far as possible when choosing plastic centrifuge tubes. Plastic centrifuge tubes are generally disposable experimental instruments, not recommended for repeated use. In order to save money, PP-made centrifuge tubes can be reused according to the situation, but they need to be thoroughly disinfected through high temperature and high pressure to ensure the scientific nature of the experimental results. The PE material centrifuge tube cannot be disinfected at high temperatures and high pressure. The packaging or description of the plastic centrifuge tube will generally indicate the centrifugal force or recommended speed that the product can bear. In order to ensure the safety of the experiment and the reliability of the results, the centrifuge tube consistent with the speed requirements of the experiment should be selected.

(2) Glass centrifugal tube:

When using the glass pipe, the centrifugal force should not be too large, so a rubber pad is needed to prevent the breaking of the pipe. The high-speed centrifuge generally does not choose the glass pipe. If the centrifuge tube lid is not closed well enough, the liquid should not be filled up (for the high-speed centrifuge and using the corner rotor) to prevent overflow and loss of balance. The spillover consequence is the contamination of the rotor and centrifugal chamber, affecting the normal operation of the sensor. When Overspeed centrifugation, the liquid must be filled with the centrifuge tube, because the detachment needs to pump a high vacuum, and only filling can avoid the deformation of the centrifuge tube.

(3) Steel centrifuge tube

The steel centrifuge tube has strength, no deformation, and can resist heat, freezing, and chemical corrosion, its application is quite widely used but should also avoid contact with strong corrosive chemicals, such as strong acid, strong alkali, etc. Try to avoid the corrosion of these chemicals.

The function of pipe cover :

Pipe cover role Plastic centrifuge tubes are covered with tube covers, which must be tightly covered to prevent liquid leakage.

(1) For radioactive or highly corrosive samples, to prevent sample leakage.

(2) Prevent the sample from volatilization.

(3) Support the centrifugal tube to prevent its deformation of the centrifugal tube.
